It’s time for a train ride! Pacific Surfliner trains are once again operating between Los Angeles and San Diego on Saturdays and Sundays – no bus connections required. The reopening follows an extended track closure for construction. This is the first step to full service restoration through the area. About the Track Work
The tracks in south San Clemente were closed to passenger rail service since late September 2022 out of an abundance of caution after officials noticed movement of the tracks and the adjacent hillside. Construction work has successfully stabilized the area, and a safety assessment has cleared the way for rail service to resume. Construction will continue on weekdays, but on Saturdays and Sundays, the trains will travel along the coast! Note: There are also two weekends in March 2023 where trains won't travel south of Irvine/San Juan Capistrano due to scheduled track work.
